Congratulations to the winner of the March challenge, Joyce Cheng! I hope you enjoy your prize and participate in the next Bougie Babe Challenge. Speaking of the next challenge, it’s a new month and we all know what that means – Challenge time!
It’s April, and when I think of this month. I think of growth. We celebrate Earth day and Easter in this month; both holidays represent adding to your life and growing to become a better version of yourself. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ and us gaining a second chance. Earth day brings awareness to our dying earth and giving us the tools to grow a sustainable world. Each holiday guides us to add positivity in our lives and that is what I wanted to do this month. For this month we will be adding a positive habit into our lives. I will be posting one lucky winner on April 30th and the winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Here are the rules:
You must be following my blog, Bougie Babe and following me @ken.monet on Instagram.
Challenger must upload a picture everyday or 7 pictures all together weekly on your progress with the hashtag #BougieBabeChallenge by April 29th at 11:59 pm.
The caption should explain what you gave up for the month and why you chose the hobby or habit.

It is time of the year. The weather is starting to toy with our feelings; the snow has melted, but the wind is still thriving. I know there is someone in front of their mirror contemplating wearing a light blue jumpsuit or wearing a leather jacket, a pair of jeans, and rain-boots. On the other hand, this is the time we start to look for new and better outfits to purchase. The newest Spring collection of your favorite designer has launched, and you’ve made room in your closet for everything and anything. But did you prepare your wallet the same way you prepared your closet? No. I don’t judge you. I also neglected my wallet and decided space in my wardrobe was more important. I was fascinated with the different patterns, the intricate cuts outs, and the vibrant colors, until I noticed the price tag. The price tag of these designer stores made me put some of my old clothes back on the hanger, luckily, I found some affordable online boutiques that aren’t a complete sham. I know what you’re thinking, “online boutiques are nothing but people recycling clothes from other stores with cheaper material and overpriced.” Yeah, I know. There are some clothing brands that sell us a piece of fabric for more than what we make an hour. And there are also some clothing brands that sell good quality clothes for a decent price.
3udora
3udora is a black woman
owned online boutique that focuses on unique and eccentric fashion. The online boutique includes sizes for all
women, sizes ranging from small to XX-Large.
The founder of 3udora, Candice Jean-Pierre, fell in love with fashion at
a young age. She grew up in an area
where many of the retail stores had the same clothing and girls’ fashion were
predictable. She decided to create a
modern, sophisticated, and unique Afrocentric clothing boutique. She asses the quality of her clothes by
trying on samples and testing the clothes herself before posting her clothing
on the site. She believes that the clothes
she designs bring a sense of belonging to the women who purchased it. In her words, “They preserve the afro-culture
of these women [black women] and celebrate it, while everyone else just looks
at it as a trend.” Personally, I have
purchased from the site before, and I love the quality of my head wrap. The material is stretchy, breathable, and
versatile. I recommend this store to everyone.
Founder of 3udora
Rebellious Fashion
Rebellious Fashion is one of the many well known popular online
boutiques we see dominating Instagram.
The online boutique has gained much traction since created in 2013. The online retail store is based in the
United Kingdom and has been in business for over 20 years. Rebellious Fashion was made to be different,
risky, and classy all in one. The
clothes trend on many different platforms and focus on making the buyer feel good. The quality of the clothes
is very good, especially for a mainstream online boutique. And if someone receives a malfunctioned
product; the customer service is excellent.
Papaya Clothing
Papaya clothing is an online boutique with physical retail stores
located in the United States. Papaya
clothing has been in the game for over three decades. The store has a variety of sizes for all
shapes and sizes. Papaya clothing prides
themselves in helping millions of women find the best clothes that will fit
their style. The best thing is the
company has control of their supply chain; the company is direct with all
operations and customer savings. The
company tests the wear of their clothes before posting the items. The clothes wear well and can last for
months, even years, after purchase.
Poppy Apparel
Poppy Apparel is an upcoming boutique that has much potential. The boutique sells different clothes for any occasion. Although it is a newer website than the big names on the list, the brand started to receive buzz from smaller influencers. On the other hand, the company does not have an about page or speaks much on the experience of creating the boutique. The brand is nice but needs to step up their game to receive notoriety in the fashion world.
Kloset Envy
Last, but
certainly not least, Kloset Envy is next on the list. Kloset Envy is all about looking good but not
breaking the bank. Jai Nice, founder of
Kloset Envy, tests her products on herself and the Kloset Envy models before
selling her clothes. She styles and buys
her clothes, as well. In my own
experience, the quality of the clothes is exceptional. The fabric doesn’t feel scratchy on the skin
at all. I suggest ordering up in size because
the clothes are snug.

Happy Black History month! It is time for the newest challenge of the month. I thought long about this challenge, which is why it took me until now to announce it. I didn’t know if I wanted to combine black history with Valentine’s Day festivities. However, I felt that it would be too obvious. I want to create challenges that better my reader and myself. This month’s challenge is to enjoy love. Once a week, complete an activity that you love to do. I know it’s sounds easy, but life can get in the way of our alone time. Spend time with yourself while reading a book; cleaning the house; writing a poem, or trying new recipes. I will be posting one lucky winner on February 28th and the winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Here are the rules:

Starting my Spring semester in college and beginning a new job are the amazing blessings in my life currently. It is great to earn some money for my bougie lifestyle and get an education to fulfill my bougie future. On the other hand, I don’t have time to write blog posts as frequently as I used to do. But, I’m back! And I have a new skincare routine for the Winter. My skin dries out quicker in the winter than the other seasons. During Winter, I take precaution to keep my skin refreshed and rejuvenated. My new skincare routine can be modified if you have oily skin. Some of the products below you have seen from a previous post; the other products are new. Check out my new skincare routine below!
Botanics All Cleansing Foam Wash
My favorite facial cleanser of all time, the
Botanics foam wash is great for all skin types.
I use a dime size amount of the cleanser and mix it with a small amount
of warm water. The cleanser foams in
your hands and deeply cleans your face.
Also, the product does not have alcohol to aide in cleansing. Personally, I use the cleanser all the time
and I still have the first bottle I ever used.
The cleanser can be used for two years; however, I don’t expect to have
the same container for another year. My
next step in my skincare routine is my lip scrub.
BreedLove Beauty Coffee Lip Scrub
The coffee lip scrub from BreedLove Beauty is
one of the best lip scrubs I have ever gotten my hands on. The coffee lip scrub removes all the dead
skin on my lips without feeling harsh. The
smell of the scrub is subtle; the scrub smell won’t overpower your senses. After using the scrub, my lips feel soft as
rose petals. The scrub also moisturizes my
lips, so they aren’t dry. I don’t use
the scrub every day; I use the scrub three times a week. I love having soft lips. After
the scrub, I use my toner.
Studio 35 Beauty Witch Hazel Toner
This toner is inexpensive and works wonders on
my skin. Depending on the day, I use the
toner after using the Botanics foam wash.
The toner picks up anything that my cleanser left. Usually, the foam wash gets all the dirt from
my face, however, the toner makes sure to get excess filth that might be deep
in my pores. My skin doesn’t dry after I
use the toner. In addition, the toner is
a big factor in my smooth and clear skin.
This next step is my most recent addition to my skincare routine – tea
tree oil.
Garnier Soothing Rosewater Facial
Mist
This another product I have raved about before
in a previous post. The facial mist gives
a nice refresher for my dry skin and brings back the moisture in my skin. The product can be used before makeup as a
primer and after makeup as a setting spray.
The facial mist is perfect for a little help when you feel dry. You can read more about my raving about the
product in my previous post.
Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil
I doubt the brand of the tea tree oil is the
best for skin, but this oil has given me life.
The first time I applied the oil to my skin, I noticed a clear
difference. The dark spots on my face lightened
overnight. The smell of the oil is
strong, even with only a drop. I rub the
oil on my face with my fingertips and watch my skin glisten. It is one of the best additions I have added
to my skincare routine. The next thing
in my routine helps dull the smell of the oil.
Ponds’ Dry Skin Cream
I need to be sponsored by Ponds’ because I love
this cream. This cream saves my skin
every time I massage it in. The salve is
so creamy and light. Once applied, it softens
and rejuvenates the skin. The Ponds’
cream can be used in every season, depending on how much you put on. For the winter, I doubled up on the cream for
the harsh winds and cold air. In the
summer, I prefer a small amount of the cream.
I suggest this cream to every dry skin person I meet. It is the best and affordable. Buy it.
My last step on my skincare routine is another new addition.
Jason Vitamin E Moisturizing Cream
This is a new cream I apply after I use my Pond’s
cream. It is a bit heavier and creamier
than the Pond’s cream, but it works for my skin. I don’t feel my pores clogging and crying for
air. The cream is a nice addition in
keeping my skin healthy and clear. The vitamin E in the cream evens my skin while
the avocado oil renews my skin’s softness.
The product works wonders, and I love the results I get from it. Although the Pond’s cream is the best thing
that can happen to my face, the Jason vitamin E cream is the icing on the cake.
And that is my new skincare routine for the winter! Tell me your skincare routine in the comments down below. In addition, the Bougie Babe Challenge winner is…. Ms. SUNSHINE! Her post is down below! Check out her Instagram and show her some love. Thank you all for participating in the Bougie Babe Challenge of January 2019! I will be posting the new challenge of February by tomorrow, stay tuned!
