Top Skincare Products for Men

Hey Babes,

Happy New Year! I have returned to my home base!  I know I have been gone for a while; however, I started a YouTube channel called Bougie Babe Ken.  Currently, my time is populated with school, work, and YouTube.  But my fingers were craving to write another blog post for my original babes.  I’ve missed writing my posts and helping brighten your day.  Many of the support I get from my babes help me stay positive.  Sorry I left, but this is the year of consistency.  I will be uploading a blog post or a video more frequently.

Today, I will be discussing some highly rated skincare products for men.  I have noticed there are more men starting a skincare routine and indulging in self-care.  Self-care is an important practice, and everyone should prioritize their health – including men.  Self-care is more than getting your nails done or having a glass of wine; it is taking the time to focus on the things that benefit you and make you happy.  Men are meant to be the provider and don’t focus on positive outlets that can make them happy.  Modern men are forgoing that ideology and investing in themselves.  Luckily, my favorite topic – skincare – is a popular self-care practice that people invest in.  Here are some great skincare products that men should consider investing in.

  • Jack Black Pure Daily Facial Cleanser – $19

The first step in anyone’s skincare routine is to wash your face.  Washing your face twice daily help keep the skin clean for all dirt and bacteria.  The Jack Black Pure Daily Facial Cleanser is a great cleanser to do just that job.  The 2-in-1 cleanser and toner removes oil and dirt while hydrating the skin for a fresh look.  Key ingredients such as Aloe leaf help soothe and reduce redness, organic rosemary and sage leaf provides antibacterial benefits, and with hazel tones and cleanses the skin.  Your skin will look great and fresh after using the cleanser.

Together the ingredients combine to preserve the new layer of supply skin.

Review: Beauty Shield Massaging Overnight Recovery Cream

Hey Babes,

Summer is coming to an end with August being the last month of summer vacation.  The leaves are changing colors and the wind is biting at our skin.  Summer is not over, but the weather change is affecting my face.  As you all know, my skin is dryer than hair damaged by heat for over ten years.  My day skincare routine has saved my skin from the harsh sun, however, my skin still felt dry when waking up.  I knew I needed to change something else – my nighttime routine.

My night routine didn’t change much from my previous routine post.  On the other hand, I did not replace most of the products I used after I finished the bottle.  Stupidly, I thought she (my skin) would act accordingly during the midnight hours.  That didn’t happen.  I was faced with a dilemma; how do I repair my skin when I’m not awake?  I didn’t know where to start, honestly.  The first thing I thought to do was to look for ingredients that help with repairing the skin.  Skin is important to me and I do research the ingredients of the products I use.  It is important to me to align myself with companies that are ethical and socially responsible.  I researched about a few companies and I saw an interesting product – the E.L.F. Beauty Shield Massaging Overnight Recovery Cream.

E.L.F. is an affordable drug store makeup company that is sold in many stores such as Target, Ulta Beauty, Walgreens, CVS, and E.L.F. cosmetic stores.  I purchased the massaging cream at Target for $14 plus tax.  The ingredients, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene; Cetyl Alcohol; Vitamin C; Pomegranate oil; and Carrot oil, sold me on the product.  Hydrogenated Polyisobutene is a polymer that thickens the oils in cosmetic products which creates a softer and smoother look.  Cetyl Alcohol is a non-drying alcohol that holds the ingredients together.  Vitamin C, pomegranate oil, and carrot oil are antioxidants that nourish the skin; brighten dark spots; and repair damaged skin.  These ingredients were solutions to the issues I had with my skin.

After my first use with the recovery overnight cream, the consistency caught my attention.  I noticed the cream did not completely sink into the skin.  With the massager alone, my skin did not absorb the product.  I massaged the rest of the product into my skin with my fingers.  The substance didn’t feel sticky or greasy; it felt better on my face after I put it in the refrigerator for two minutes.

The morning after, my face felt moisturized.  My appearance wasn’t affected immediately, however, my face did feel smoother.  After a few weeks of use, the massaging overnight recovery cream became a favorite.  Rolling the massaging beads on my face feels relaxing, especially after a rough day.  The cream works best on a fresh, clean face so I use the Beauty Shield product after applying my Vitamin C toner from BreedLove Beauty Co.  I noticed my skin felt nourished and hydrated in the morning. The bumps and ridges of my skin felt smoother and less visible. I like the product thus far and recommend it for people with minor skin damage.  If you want shorter reviews on products, follow my Influester – @kenmonet.

Review: Walgreens Avocado Oil and Oatmeal Mask

Hey Babes!

Welcome back to Bougie Babe!  I hope your holiday weekend was phenomenal.  Today, I will be reviewing another Walgreens face mask. Again, I visited my favorite place on Earth (An exaggeration, but it’s almost true.) – Walgreens.  I searched the shelves to find a new product to try for my readers.  As I struggled to find anything new, a specific tube caught my eye.  The design of the bottle isn’t unique or special, but I wanted to try it.  The mask does not include Parabens, Phthalates, and Sulfates; however, the mask includes fragrance.  I looked for the face mask on the Walgreens’ website.  Unfortunately, I did not find the mask on the website.  After intensive research on Google, I gave up.  This facial tube mask I bought at Walgreens is only available at my local Walgreens store.

Walgreens’ Nourish Facial Mask

The Avocado oil and Oatmeal face mask is a good mask. It works well on the skin and dries swiftly.  If you have sensitive skin, be careful and wash the mask off quickly.  After applying the paste to my face, the mask immediately began to dry.  The mask feels tight on the skin while it dries.  The tinkling sensation is absent with this specific mask.  Also, the fragrance in the mask is not a strong scent. After about ten minutes, the mask is completely dry.

Once I washed the mask off, my skin felt smoother.  I needed to apply a moisturizer because my face looked ashy and felt like cement.  I used the Breedlove Beauty buttercream to bring the moisture back into my face and my skin felt better.  The mask is not the best mask out of every face mask I have tried, however, it is a good one.  It is good to clear the skin; if you aren’t careful about what you use to moisturize the skin afterwards, the mask will irritate your skin.  Overall, the Walgreens’ Nourish Avocado oil and Oatmeal mask is two and a half stars out of five stars.  The mask is good for clearing the skin but does not “nourish” the face.

Guest Review: Charcoal Bubble Mask

Hey Babes!

Today, I have a special treat.  I invited a guest to review the Charcoal Bubble Mask from Walgreens.  The sheet mask is one of Walgreens’ newest skincare items.  The Charcoal Bubble mask deep cleans, exfoliates, and invigorates the skin.  Walgreens infused charcoal and micro-bubble foaming action to create the perfect mask for all skin types.

My guest reviewer, D. Brown, has dry skin.  His face feels rough and tight when he does not moisturize his skin.  We placed the mask on his face and left it on for three minutes.

Bougie: How do you feel when I put the mask on your face?

D. Brown: At first, the mask is cold on the face.  Also, it feels slimy, like snail slime.  It’s not the worst feeling, but I wish the mask was warm.

Bougie: I can see the bubbles forming on top of the mask.  Do you feel the bubbles working on your face?

D. Brown: Yes, I feel it all over my face. The bubbles begin to work on contact.  I feel the bubbles tickling my pores, so the mask must be working.

Bougie: Have you tried a charcoal-infused face mask before this mask?

D. B.: No.  I tried face masks with all different types of ingredients.  This would be my first mask with charcoal.

Bougie: Unfortunately, you only need the mask for three minutes.  It is time to take it off.

[Takes off mask]

D. B.: What do I do next?

Bougie: Rub the remaining cleanser into the skin, then rinse your face with warm water.

D. B.: Okay.

[Rubs cleanser into skin and rinses face]

D. B.: My skin feels smoother and looks brighter.  My face doesn’t feel tight and dry.  You see results as soon as you finish.

Bougie: Would you incorporate this mask into your daily routine?

D. B.: Definitely.

Bougie: Thank you for reviewing this product.  Also, your face is glowing!

D.B.: [Laughs] Thanks, babe.

After the charcoal face mask

And there you have it!  The Charcoal Bubble mask was a success!  The mask begins to work immediately after applying to the face. Also, the results are amazing.  If you are in a hurry and do not have time for a regular ten-minute face mask, the charcoal facial mask is perfect. The face mask retails for $1.49 at Walgreens.  Thank you for reading this post and have a great Monday!
