It’s Time to End

Hey Babes,

I know that you haven’t heard from me in a while.  I haven’t been consistent in my work and I apologize.  The April challenge winner is @Colleenalau!  Her May challenge consisted of being grateful for the small things in her life for the entire month.  She kept a journal to record her challenge and posted a picture for each week on her Instagram.  If you are interested in seeing her challenge, don’t hesitate to follow her!

The April challenge was a blast; forcing myself to attend the gym for twenty-one days was no joke.  I still attend the gym at least twice a week.  It is not easy.  My arms hurt, legs are in pain, my core is screaming at me, and I’m not sure if my back is sweating or crying out for help.  Although my body parts are not happy with me, I love knowing that I’m working on being healthy and a better vision of myself.  That is what being a Bougie Babe is all about.  We, as bougie babes, need to be constantly working to evolve into better versions of our former selves.  Whether that be separating yourself from your draining work, manipulating friends, and emotionally damaging family; it is to create the person we strive to be in life.

Unfortunately, separating yourself from some of the familiarities are difficult.  Removing yourself from an unhealthy environment with the ones you know affects the relationship.  Some people learn to be cordial and mature about the end of bond; others may lash out or react negatively.  It will affect everyone in a different way.  I learned my lesson when it comes to ending a bond.  It hurts.  Once, I cried for a few days wondering if I was wrong for ending the relationship.  After a few weeks, I used my pain to fuel my desire for growth.

Losing a loved one that is not physically gone can affect your spirit.  It troubles you and creates a smothering atmosphere around you.  You begin to blame yourself for the other person’s actions; taking on their sins as your own.  You will want to rekindle the friendship/ relationship – don’t.  The connection ended because of toxicity.  Why go back to what hurt you in the first place?

Take the time to heal and evolve into the person you envision.  Take the time to consider that you may have grown from the person, or they grew apart from you.  If you need to remove yourself from any malicious or negative environment, please do so.  An apple tree cannot grow in concrete.  Surround yourself with ambitious people.   Set goals that you want to achieve.  Live the life that you want and let them live their life.  Wish them well and hope they receive their blessings.  It’s okay to end a relationship with someone close to you.  That person brought a purpose into your life at the time you needed to learn something different.  It’s okay to appreciate who the person is and to appreciate what they did for you.   It’s now time to appreciate and love them from afar.

February Bougie Babe Challenge

Hey Babes!

Happy Black History month! It is time for the newest challenge of the month. I thought long about this challenge, which is why it took me until now to announce it. I didn’t know if I wanted to combine black history with Valentine’s Day festivities. However, I felt that it would be too obvious. I want to create challenges that better my reader and myself. This month’s challenge is to enjoy love. Once a week, complete an activity that you love to do. I know it’s sounds easy, but life can get in the way of our alone time. Spend time with yourself while reading a book; cleaning the house; writing a poem, or trying new recipes. I will be posting one lucky winner on February 28th and the winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Here are the rules:

  1. You must be following my blog, Bougie Babe and following me @ken.monet on Instagram.
  1. Challenger must upload a picture each week of them enjoying the activity they love with the hashtag #BougieBabeChallenge by February 27th at 11:59 pm.
  1. The activity must be completed in February OF 2019! Do NOT upload a picture of an old vacation or activity you completed a long time ago.
  1. Comment on this post once you have uploaded your picture with your email address.
  1. The caption should explain what the activity is and why you chose to partake in it.

And those are the rules! I loved seeing the January challenges you guys posted. I can’t wait to see the posts for this month. Don’t forget to like, share, and comment on this post. Also, follow my blog and @ken.monet on Instagram.

Bye Babes!

Take Care of Your Creativity

Hey Babes!

Recently, I suffered from writer’s block.  I couldn’t think of any topics to discuss with my readers; it frustrated me that I didn’t post on the blog.  I tried to think of different recipes, self-care topics, and inspirational talks to help my audience get through the day.  It became harder and harder to sit in front of my laptop and write.  My fingertips struggled to glide across my keyboard; I was in a rut.  I realized one night that I forgot to take care of my creativity.

What does “taking care of my creativity” mean?  It means to plant the ideas swarming the mind, water the ideas with perseverance and passion, and continue to care for those creative ideas.   Creativity is a muscle. We need to exercise our creativity for it to grow and flourish.  We exercise our brain everyday to solve equations, memorize important detail, and gain knowledge.  But we forget, logic is equally important as art; we need both to survive.  Take time out of your day to do something creative.  Paint for an hour, dance in some loungewear, practice singing in a different range, write your feelings in a notebook until you can’t anymore; exercise your creative muscle.  Remember to nourish your creative garden.

There will be obstacles along the way.  That is normal.  You might doubt your craft, but don’t let negativity ruin the garden.  I learned a lesson being away from my blog; creativity will flow when you let it.  Dabble in something new or revisit familiar ground; Do not let your artistic mind go to waste.  Go on and water your garden, pull out the weeds, plant new flowers, and watch the creativity grow.  I promise you won’t regret it.

Open The Door

Good Morning Babes,

It is time to start fresh. Opportunity will not open the door for you. Pursue the career you love; repair those broken relationships; purchase the plane ticket and experience a new culture. Start improving yourself tomorrow or next week. Don’t wait until New Year’s Day to change for the better.

Take the risk and open the door of opportunity. It might seem hard without support, but you have it. The babes and I support you. So, why not go for it? A person cannot grow without taking risks and utilizing opportunities. Live life without wondering and questioning about the unknown. Walk through the door and discover the path to a better life.

Don’t forget to like, share, and comment on the post. And live your best bougie life!

Bye Babes!
